Onion Bhajiis

Starters and Snacks  

Ingredients

2 Red onions
1 Chilli
2 Garlic cloves
8 gm Root ginger
1 Tbsp Butter
� tsp Chilli powder
� tsp Turmeric
9 Tbsp Gram flour
2 Tbsp Coriander leaves
� tsp Fennel seeds
Salt

Method

Thinly slice the red onions. Finely chop the green chilli and ginger. Mix the onions, chilli, ginger and melted butter. Add the chilli powder, gram flour, chopped coriander, fennel seeds and salt. Sprinkle with water and mix well so that it is thick enough to hold its shape.

Heat a wok with enough vegetable oil to deep fry or a deep fat fryer if you have one.

Drop small spoonfuls of the mixture into the oil, a few at a time and fry until evenly golden brown all over. Drain on kitchen towel.

Notes

If you have rice flour, use 6 Tablespoons of gram flour and 3 Tablespoons of rice flour to give a lighter mix.
