Orange/Lemon Cake

Cakes, Biscuits and Bread  

Ingredients

100 gm Butter
150 gm Caster sugar
150 gm Plain flour
2 tsp Baking powder
2 Egg(s)
1 Orange zest
4 Tbsp Milk

Topping

1 Orange juice
75 gm Caster sugar

Method

Preheat the oven to 175�C.

Put all the cake ingredients in a bowl or food processor and mix well. Pour the mixture into a greased or lined cake or loaf tin. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes.

For the topping, mix the juice and sugar but do not completely dissolve the sugar. Pour the mixture over the cake as soon as it comes out of the oven. Leave in the cake tin to cool.

Notes

You can also use the recipe to make small cup cakes. I use paper cases to do this.

Variation

Replace the orange with lemon or a mixture of orange and lemon.
